The Course Coordinator has both academic and educational administrative responsibilities while dealing with a specific set of courses assigned to them in their role as both faculty to teach a course, as well as being the coordinator for a group of courses. In their role as faculty, if assigned a course, they will predominantly perform all academic tasks. In their role as course coordinator of a set of courses assigned, they will perform the educational administrative tasks to ensure that both the academic and delivery aspects of the courses are of high-quality and on time.
As a Faculty of a Course, if Assigned
1. Preparation of the TLEP of the course, in collaboration with other faculty assigned to teach the same course if any.
2. Review the set of learning resources available and strengthen them through fresh development initiatives in terms of additional learning and assessment resources during a semester.
3. Participate in the development of technology enabled courseware and assessments as assigned, as well as defined through one’s own initiatives. These development activities would cover a broad spectrum including pre-recorded microlessons, eLearning content development through studio-recorded videos, formative and summative assessments, etc.
4. Develop detailed lesson plans and implement live lectures of high quality for the course,
5. Provide mentoring, additional tutorial sessions and support for the students as required during a semester.
6. Spearhead the use of discussion forums for the course by actively encouraging participation from the students towards strengthening collaborative learning during a semester.
7. Develop formative and summative assessment items for the course as per the guidelines of the university that will help establish the attainment of the outcome- based educational goals of the course.
8. Participate in other technology enabled development initiatives as rolled out from time to time.
9. Ensure that the course being handled adheres to the intents stated in the TLEP and receives a high rating from the students.
As a Course Coordinator
1. Manage the conduct and delivery of a set of courses assigned, usually from an area of one’s own interest and expertise, that may also include the course, if any, assigned to be taught.
2. Manage the set of tasks defined in the Course Organizer document and the relevant online trackers on a weekly basis, both in terms of planning & readiness, as well as monitoring and initiating mid-course corrective actions during a semester.
3. Act as the owner of the processes in terms of delivery of the courses in a semester in terms of a variety of perspectives – readiness of learning resources, completion of specified tasks as per the calendar of activities / course organizer, interfacing with the faculty assigned to teach the courses to ensure timely and high quality delivery of learning to the students, coordination of the collection and upload of assessment items, notification to students, update of the trackers, etc.
4. Ensure that the faculty teaching the courses complete the various tasks as planned, and take corrective action, if any, when slippages occur.
5. Ensure that the student queries in terms of academic and administrative aspects of a course are handled in an effective and timely manner.
6. Owner of the process of administering student and course faculty feedback at specified intervals to enable improvements in the academic and delivery aspects of the courses.
1. Master Degree with UGC-NET
2. Ph.D. is an added advantage
3. 3 - 10 plus years of experience in an academic setup at UG/PG level
1. Strong command over written and verbal communication skills
2. Technically strong and well versed with Office tools including Spreadsheets/ Word/ PPT
3. Team player and initiator with excellent behavioural competencies
4. Positive attitude and ability to interact with the faculty, heads and leadership team
